Do I really need COC?

If you have imported a vehicle from abroad, most countries require a Certificate of Conformity (COC) to verify that the vehicle is a European model and can be operated on public roads without requiring modifications.

If you plan to register your car in France and the technical license already includes fields D1, D2, D3, and K, the COC may not be necessary. However, the ANTS may occasionally request it as an additional document.

How much does the COC cost?

All our COC certificates are original documents issued either by the vehicle manufacturer or an official representative of the brand. However, the original document is typically the first copy provided to the vehicle’s initial owner. Any subsequent copies may be marked as “Duplicate” or “Copy,” but they are equivalent to the original Certificate of Conformity and include all security features such as holograms, watermarks, or signatures.

The single internal market was introduced in 1993, meaning that once certain goods are approved under applicable EU regulations, they can be traded without needing further approval. This also applies to vehicles. In the past, vehicles were approved by individual EU Member States. However, new legislation (92/53/EEC, 2007/46/EC) was introduced, establishing a single European procedure (“European single vehicle approval”) to replace the national approval systems of Member States. European legislation now sets technical requirements for all new vehicles to facilitate their registration, sale, and entry into service within the EU. The most significant benefit of European type-approval is the elimination of the need for multiple approvals, along with the establishment of uniform requirements for a high level of safety and environmental protection.
